Four persons were killed on Tuesday as gunmen attacked the Head Office of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) in Ebonyi.
The NDLEA headquarters is located at Ntezi in lshielu local government area of the state.
The incident happened at about 2am Tuesday, even as officials of the command, soldiers and the police operatives repelled the attack.
The attackers as gathered came through the back perimeter fence of the facility.
Police spokesperson, Loveth Odah in the state, confirmed the incident.
Odah, disclosed that the security agencies killed two of the gunmen while others escaped with injuries.
She said one of the officers and a patient undergoing rehabilitation at the Agency’s rehabilitation center was also killed”.
Odah noted that security agencies were still combing the bushes around the area in search of the injured escaped gunmen.
The police spokesperson further revealed that two riffles and ammunitions were recovered from the attackers, adding; “Some of the items recovered include: 140 rounds of K2 ammunition, 36 rounds of GPMG live ammunition, 30 rounds of Ak 47 rounds of ammunition, a 4 Runner jeep, motorcycles, military and police uniforms, charms among others.
Meanwhile, the agency on February 20, 2022 lost two officers when they were attacked along the Abakaliki-Enugu highway.
