The commissioner of Ebonyi State Ministry of Women Affairs, has assured that the ministry will partner the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) Ebonyi State chapter in driving down to the grassroots the core mandate of the ministry.
The Commissioner, Mrs Deborah Chinwe Okah, gave the assurance during a courtesy call paid on her by the EXCO members of the Association.
Mrs. Okah, expressed delight over the visit and also congratulated the chairperson of the Association, Comrade Nkechinyere Oginyi, on her successful election.
She appreciated the group for the selfless service rendered to the victims of the Benue crisis which affected Ebonyi indigenes as well as other activities carried out within the short period they have spent in office.
The Commissioner who stated that the mandate of the ministry was in line with the activity of the association, expressed optimism that they will work harmoniously together to achieve their common goal.
Mrs Okah assured them of the Ministry’s readiness to partner with them to ensure that the less privileged and disabled in the society are adequately taken care of.
Earlier, the Chairperson appreciated the Commissioner for giving them the opportunity to familiarize with the Ministry.
She outlined the achievements so far recorded by the Association to include; visitation and donation of relief items to Ebonyi victims of the Benue State attack and also the school sensitization exercise during the 2021 world menstrual hygiene day, amongst others.
She however appealed for NAWOJ to be given the opportunity to partner with the Ministry to ensure that the activities and programmes of the State Government are promoted.
Comrade Oginyi further solicited for support to enable them carry out a sensitization program on safety and crises management to the communal crisis areas in the state.
Present during the visit were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Florence Nwali and Heads of the various departments.
