The management of Abia State University, Uturu, has sacked one of its senior lecturers, and a former Acting Head of Department of Mass Communication, over his alleged involvement in demanding for sex to pass students in his department.
ABSU, announced Ukaegbu’s dismissal in a communique signed by the University Registrar, Acho Elendu, issued after the 148th regular and resumed meetings of the Governing Council of the university held on Thursday, the 16th, and the 20th of December 2021.
The Governing Council under the chairmanship of the Pro-Chancellor, Adolphus Wabara, the ABSU council-in-session ratified the dismal of Ukaegbu, as well as that of Mr. Leonard Chukwuma for admission fraud and racketeering.
A senior management staff of the university disclosed that the school management and security have been tracking the lecturer.
The staff added that a disciplinary committee was set up, which sent their report to the Council with appreciative recommendation that was ratified by the Council.
