Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, yesterday, said he has no rift with the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, as was speculated in some sections of the media.
Umahi made the disclosure yesterday, during the hand over ceremony of the parcel of land donated by the government of Ebonyi state , for the establishment of the artisanal and small scale mineral processing cluster in Ebonyi, by the Federal government of Nigeria for the South Eastern zone.
He stated this following a publication in one of the National Dailies that claimed Umahi and Onu were at loggerheads which made the Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Dr. Uche Ogah to boycott the hand over ceremony which was supposed to take place last week Friday at Uburu, Ohaozara local government area, the hometown of both Umahi and Onu.
Ogah at the event yesterday said he didn’t make it to the event last week Friday following a flight issues, prompting the event to be rescheduled Tuesday this week.
He said “I want to first of all apologize on the incident that happened last week Friday, it isn’t intentional, I was disappointed by airline from Abuja to Enugu”, he told Umahi yesterday when he paid a courtesy visit on him at the new government House Abakaliki.
The Governor while receiving Ogah said “some people are very much interested with fake news, I never had any issues with Dr Onu, not even for once. So why will one journalist write that I was having issues with him and then that the minister boycotted a function that never held”. ENDS
