Kanu: consider consequences of appealing judgement, dialogue instead, Ohanaeze to FG

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has urged the federal government to put into consideration the consequences of appealing the Appeal Court ruling acquitting the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of all the charges against him.

Secretary-General of the Igbo group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, stated this on Friday in a press statement, while advising the federal government to instead have a dialogue with Kanu.

He assured the Federal Government that some eminent Nigerian leaders from southeast were ready to bring Nnamdi Kanu to the table for profound dialogue but, stating that such would bring about, minimal protocol for genuine peace to return to Nigeria, especially in the southeast.

“Nigerians are attentive to know the Federal Government’s reactions now that IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu has expressed in writing his desire to be released so he can lead other Southern agitators with eminent statesmen and Patriots to heal Nigeria. Nnamdi Kanu has written to President Buhari, it’s a good step and Federal Government should know that the mood of the nation needs healing, they must choose these openings to restore peace and security in the southeast, Igbo leaders are ready to help Federal Government to hold Kanu to fulfill all treaties in the interests of national healing and reconciliation”.

“We are happy to know that Federal Government is now weighing options regards to the verdict that favors Kanu, instead of appealing they should opt for dialogue with a commitment to restore normalcy and end Sit at Home in the southeast. There will be good results if the Federal Government declines the option of appealing Kanu’s verdict and opt for dialogue, which will solve the hardship associated with restiveness in the southeast. But appealing the judgment will fasten unpleasant errors that will not be favorable for Nigerians, the consequences of the option to appeal will be destructive “.

Igbo leaders are available to accompany Kanu to Buhari for dialogue, FG should consider the consequences of appealing and dialogue.
