The National Universities Commission (NUC), has published list of 58 illegal universities that the federal government has closed down across Nigeria.
NUC on its official website stated that the affected universities were closed for violating the Education (National Minimum Standards, etc.) Act CAPE3 Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The important notice was sent through NUC’s executive secretary, Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, to all citizens, especially prospective undergraduates.
The commission said the institutions violated its law.
The universities are listed below:
1. University of Accountancy and Management Studies, operating anywhere in Nigeria
2. Christians of Charity American University of Science and Technology, Nkpor, Anambra State
or any of its other campuses
3. University of Industry, Yaba, Lagos or any of its other campuses
4. University of Applied Sciences and Management, Port Novo, Republic of Benin or any of its
other campuses in Nigeria

6. Volta University College, HO, Volta Region, Ghana or any of its other campuses in Nigeria

Meanwhile, the commission said some other institutions are undergoing further investigations and/or ongoing court actions in a bid to prosecute the proprietors and recover illegal fees and charges on subscribers.
