Ebonyi state government has dismissed a video recording circulating on social media on attack of herdsmen in Ebonyi State by alleged Eastern Security Network as fake.
In the said video, group of people whose faces were not shown were seen setting what looked like a Fulani settlement ablaze and they were heard saying, “this is Eastern Security Network, Ebonyi Command, we are hear to do our work, we are hear to clear our bushes…”
Ebonyi Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Hon. Orji Uchenna Orji, yesterday, in a release made available to journalists in Abakaliki, said the video was fake, and that such incident did not happen in any part of the State.
Orji urged the public to disregard the said video, stating it was the handwork of mischief makers and enemies of peace and development enjoyed in the State under the administration of Governor David Umahi.
He said: “Our attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media and giving an impression that a group called Eastern Security Network was chasing away Fulani herdsmen and burning their shelters in a settlement in Ebonyi State.
“We wish to state categorically that no such incident occurred in any part of Ebonyi State. The claims of these mischief makers are monstrously untrue, unfounded and malicious. It is a notorious fact that the enemies of peace and development enjoyed in the state under the current administration are hell-bent on fanning the embers of ethnic disunity and societal disharmony to satisfy their own parochial interest.
“Members of the public are enjoined to disregard this trending video as one of the antics of unpatriotic elements who don’t mean well for our dear State and the nation”.
