1million Ebonyians to benefit from federal govt GEEP 2.0 loan

About one million Ebonyians will benefit from the Government Enterprise & Empowerment Programme , (GEEP) 2.0 loan.

 

The state commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Mrs. Ann Enigwe, made the disclosure in Abakaliki, during exco briefing, at the old government house Abakaliki.

 

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD) on August 24, 2021 in Abuja, officially launched the Government Enterprise & Empowerment Programme (GEEP) 2.0 designed to provide access to credit for the poor and vulnerable people who are at the bottom of the economic pyramid, and are involved in active commercial activity but have never had the opportunity to access Federal Government assisted loans.

 

The commissioner said that Ebonyi traders, farmers, single mothers, divorcees will be among the beneficiaries.

 

She said office of the Minister, Humanitarian Affairs will coordinate the programme through the National Orientation Agency, (NOA).
The commissioner appealed to Ebonyians to go to NOA offices around them to register their names, adding that some people will get N300,000 while some will get N50,000 depending on the business they are into.

 

“We are glad to announce the stepping down of Geep 2.0 programme in Ebonyi State. It is government enterprise employment programme where our people will benefit including traders and farmers. We have other beneficiaries like single mothers and divorcees.

 

“Office of Minister, Humanitarian Affairs is coordinating all these programmes through the National Orientation Agency, (NOA) we are using them as the (COMOS) in the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi state because NOA is known to be at the grassroots in all the local government areas.

 

“They will be the ones to go down to the local government headquarters, Development centers, market areas, churches, to register Ebonyians who are interested in the programme.

 

“Some will be entitled to N300,000, some N50,000 depending on the type of business or farming the person is into.

 

“We are using this medium to appeal to Ebonyians to come out in their numbers from September I. They should go to their local government headquarters, Development centers or anywhere they can find NOA office and register their names, it is free of charge. We have provided NOA with all it will take to effectively register Ebonyians.

 

“This registration will last for 20days starting from September I. After the registration, comes the implementation. The loan is at no interest rate and about one million people will benefit.
