Consensus: Lawan lacks national acceptance to defeat Atiku, Ohanaeze to APC

Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, yesterday stated that the choice of Ahmed Lawan as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Consensus candidate as announced by the leader of the party, Senator Adamu would cause the party the presidential seat in 2023.

The Igbo group stated that Lawan lacks the national acceptance and electoral integrity to defeat Atiku Abubaka who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential flagbearer and Peter Obi of the Labour Party in the presidential election.

Ohanaeze, maintained that Lawan as consensus candidate was a miscalculation which would ruin the party’s chances of winning the 2023 presidential election, even as the group called on presidential Buhari to caution the party National Chairman, Sen. Adamu.

Ohanaeze, made the call in a statement signed by the Secretary-General of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Ohanaeze, commended the position taken by the northern governors on the issue, stating, “We salute the courageous stance of APC Northern Governors to reject the APC National Chairman’s choice for consensus.

Those pushing for the choice Ahmad Lawan are oblivious of the fact that a political tsunami is sweeping across the country with the resurrection of the third force in Labour Party. Atiku and Lawan will lose the Presidential election against a united front of Nigerians and Southerners behind the third force.

“Senator Ahmad Lawan lacks the personality, and character, and appears clueless to fit into the legacies of President Buhari which only an Igbo can do. As a rubber stamp Senate President, his candidacy will crash out the ruling party from Aso Rock.

“Ndigbo rejects the candidature of Ahmad Lawan, a man who couldn’t find solutions through the legislative process to the security challenges in the Northeast, this man will lead Nigeria into disintegration and collapse of Nigeria’s sovereignty and unity. T be forewarned is be forearmed”.
