Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, and Chairman Southeast Governors’ Forum, Friday, commenced a 7-day praying and fasting following security challenges that has engulfed Nigeria as a country.
The exercise commenced on Saturday, May 1, at the Christian Ecumenical Center Abakaliki and its grand finale will hold simultaneously on May 8, at Ecumenical Center, Akanu Ibiam International Conference center, and local government headquarters.
This was disclosed In a release issued in Abakaliki by the state commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Orji Uchenna Orji.
Clergymen from different denominations under the aegis of Divine Mandate pastors will beseech God in prayer for His intervention in the state, Southeast zone and Nigeria at large.
The praying and fasting will hold in three categories. Those at the state level will carryout their own exercise at the Christian Ecumenical Center, Abakaliki, the second category will be at Akanu Ibiam International Conference Center, while the third category will be at local government areas.
While other members of the public are enjoined to observe the prayer from their locations.
He stated: “In view of the present security situation in the country and in keeping with his covenant to run a God -fearing administration, the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE ( Akubaraoha) has convened a 7-day fasting and prayer scheduled to commence on Saturday,1st May and end on Saturday, 8th May 2021.
“The first and last day shall be marked by a special prayer by the stakeholders scheduled to hold simultaneously at the State Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki, Akanu Ibiam International Conference Centre, Abakaliki and the headquarters of Each of the Local Government Areas from 4pm to 6pm.
