Barely four weeks three policemen were killed in Ebonyi state by unknown gunmen, another attack has been lunched killing an officer who was on duty.
The gunmen stormed Abeomege Police station, in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi State, Saturday night, this was coming after police recently repealed an attack on Ugbodo police station, in Ebonyi Local government area of Ebonyi state.
Yesterday’s attack led to the death of a Police officer, while leaving another policeman injured. Though, it was gathered that the hoodlums didn’t gain full access into the station.
Police source who didn’t want his mentioned, confirmed the attack. He said the gunmen attacked the station at night with dangerous arms.
“Yes, some unknown gunmen attacked Abeomege police station and a policeman was killed while another was hospitalized following an injury sustained in the attack”.
“The injured policeman is currently receiving treatment at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki” he stated.
Recall that at the beginning of last week two soldiers were shot dead at a military checkpoint in Amasiri, Afikpo North local government area of Ebonyi state, while Ebonyi police command has continued to record pockets of attacks on its personnel and properties in the state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO DSP Loveth Odah, hasn’t replied to the text message sent to her for confirmation of the Abeomege attack at the time of fielding report.
