Breaking: Suspected suicide bomber blows self in Ebonyi

A Suspected suicide bomber, Tuesday, blew himself up in Afikpo North Local government of Ebonyi state.

The incident happened at 11:30am on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 opposite the campus 2 of Amaizu/Amangbala Primary school, in Afikpo North Local Government Area.

Our correspondent reports that on hearing the sound of the explosive residents of the area scampered for safety, thereby causing panic in the area.

An eye witness who didn’t want his name on print, disclosed that the suspected suicide bomber tied the explosive vest round his waist which blew him up close to Eke market that happens to be the biggest market in the local government.

He said shortly after the sound had died down, some residents summoned courage and came out from their hideouts only to see the shattered body of the suicide bomber.

He said: “The suicide bomber first came into a beer parlour and when the people inquired who he was, he left.

“He moved to the school but the gate man asked him to go back. He moved opposite the school, as he made effort to remove his clothes, the explosive exploded”.

Commissioner for Internal Security, Stanley Okoro, confirmed the incident, adding that he was yet to get details of the incident.
