Gunmen invade Kogi Prisons, kill 2 soldiers, free over 240 inmates

Gunmen, Sunday, invaded Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), in Kabba, Kogi State, killing two soldiers, even as they freed over 240 inmates.

 

Spokesman of the NCoS, Mr Francis Enobore, on Monday, confirmed that gunmen attacked the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) on Sunday night.

 

He appealed to the general public to assist security operatives with useful information that will assist in nabbing the escapees.

 

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 8, Lokoja, Ayuba Ede, also confirmed the attack.

 

He said the two soldiers were killed at the roadblock before Kabba Correctional Centre.

 

Edeh said the State Commissioner of Police and other heads of security agencies have swung into action.
