IPAC SMC appointment: my consent was not sought for, says Ebonyi APGA chair

Ebonyi state chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Ricky Okorouka, on Saturday described as madness his appointment as an executive of the State Management Committee, SMC, Inter Party Advisory Committee, IPAC.

Recall that IPAC in a release dated November 28, 2020 published names of newly appointed SMC executives in 22 states of the federation including Ebonyi State. According to the release, the appointment was with Immediate effect.

The release which was signed by the acting President of IPAC, Chief Raphel Okey Nwosu and the acting Secretary-General, Hon. Adekunle Rufai Omo- Aje reads in part: “In line with the Article 3 (3.3) (c) (c) (j) of the code of conduct for the Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, 2019 (as amended) and in furtherance to the Council’s drive to reposition IPAC, the following state Council members are hereby appointed as IPAC State Management Committee (SMC) Executives. These appointments are with immediate effect.

Okorouka who spoke to our correspondent, reiterated that his consent was not sought for before such appointment was made, adding that he is a member of the existing IPAC interim leadership in Ebonyi state, and that they are still waiting for an election to be conducted to decide a new leadership.

 

He said: I’m not part of this madness, my consent was not sought for, besides, I’m a member of the existing IPAC interim leadership in Ebonyi state. We are yet to have an election to decide new leadership, so i have no business with this new leadership that i don’t know how it was metamorphosed.”

Okorouka was appointed as IPAC, SMC financial Secretary Ebonyi state.
