Ebonyi state police command has debunked alleged attack on Zion Secondary School, located at Aguogboriga layout, Ebonyi state, by alleged herdsmen.
There was rumor early hours of Wednesday, that herdsmen attacked Zion Secondary School, behind Presco Campus of Ebonyi state University, though no causality was reported.
This caused panic in the Abakaliki metropolis as students in various schools ran back home, while parents rushed to their children schools to pick them up.
But Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Loveth Odah dismissed the report.
She said the Kpirikpiri DPO, rushed to the school to ascertain the true situation of things only to see students leaving the school premises without anyone chasing them.
She said, “It was the students that heard the rumor and started leaving the school premises. There was no attack by herdsmen at Zion school.
“But we blamed the school for not taking proper action by closing the school gate to stop the students from leaving. They could have injured themselves in the process of rushing home”, she stated.
