There is total compliance to the Indigenous People of Biafara’s sit-at-home order in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital, as banks, parks and shops were shut down.
Our corespondent reports that there were heavy shootings at early hours of Monday, at Nnodo, Ebebe junction and Ogbaga road axis of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Motorcycles were set ablaze with motorists and passers-by molested by hoodlums who landed with buses and divided themselves into groups.
Rumors have it that some hoodlums were shot dead by the police, even as a police officer was said to have been killed by the hoodlums.
Also, Peace Mass, Onitsha South, Romchi and other transport companies along Afikpo Road Abakaliki, didn’t not open for business. Schools, the State University, filling stations were also shut down.
Major streets such as Water Works, Union Bank, Afikpo Road, Ogoja Road were deserted, with few persons seen in groups discussing in hush tones, while bikes and keke operators seen on the road hoisted leaves on their bikes and keke to show solidarity.
No vehicular traffic along Police junction, Ugwuachara, Mile 50, roads. Few boys were sighted playing ball on the road at police junction.
Some who were courageous enough to go to work, had to turn back on seeing how deserted the roads were.
Police was yet to react to the situation of things in the capital city at the time filing this report.
