The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ebonyi state has disclosed the real reason it zoned its governorship position to the Abakaliki bloc.

Ebonyi is made up of three senatorial zones and two political blocs. The zones are South, Central and North, while the two blocs are Afikpo and Abakaliki bloc. Abakaliki bloc comprises of North and Central senatorial zones.

The state is made up of 13 local government areas. Afikpo bloc has five while the Abakaliki bloc has eight local government areas.

National Vice Chairman of PDP, southeast zone, Chief Ali Odefa, said the party decided to zone the governorship position to the Abakaliki bloc to maintain the equity, justice and fairness it’s known for.

He said that the governor of Ebonyi state, Engr David Umahi, who is from the Afikpo bloc before he decamped to the All Progressives Congress, (APC) came into power on the platform of equity and fairness.

He added: “We zoned PDP chairmanship position to Ebonyi south and like you heard the state chairman say, the governorship has been zoned to the Abakaliki Bloc, that way everything is done peacefully.

“The present governor before he left to APC came on the platter of Equity, justice and fairness, so we want to maintain that equity and fairness in all our political doings that way rancor and violence will drastically reduce. We are using option”.
