Stakeholders of Izzi clan, in Ebonyi state, Thursday, called on indigenous of Izzi Nnodo, who are involved in the activities of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and are outside the state to return home for rehabilitation.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of a town hall meeting with the state governor, Engr. David Umahi, on the incessant security challenges in the state
The clan enjoined founding fathers and traditional rulers of the State from Izzi extraction, to educate their people in the three Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State that make up the clan, on the need to refrain from activities of IPOB, and to bring back those in cities like Port Harcourt, Aba, Onitsha, among others who are involved in IPOB activities for proper rehabilitation and empowerment.
The communique reads: “The Izzi clan notes that peace is a panacea to the speedy and aggressive development of the entire Ebonyi State, and as such, every sector of the society including the Izzi nation ought to embrace it.
“Izzi clan highly appreciates the proactive measures, unprecedented and uncommon disposition of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Nweze Umahi in addressing the security challenges in the State.
“Izzi clan condemns the unwarranted attacks on the critical infrastructures in the State, maiming and killing of security officials, wanton destructions of properties; and urges security agencies not to relent in fishing and bringing the culprits to book.
“Izzi clan dissociates herself from the unwarranted and unwholesome media attacks by undesirable elements in the society, against the person of the Governor and the Government of the State.
“Izzi clan wholesomely notes with great joy, the unparalleled economic drive of His Excellency, the unprecedented infrastructural development, the paradigm shift in the style of leadership, the dynamic approach to Governance, and the synchronized transformation of the entire landscape of Ebonyi State; and hence with one voice pledge to support the present Government by creating an atmosphere devoid of violence, anywhere in Izzi land and beyond.
” The clan has enjoined founding fathers and traditional rulers of the State from Izzi extraction, to rally round and educate our people in the three Local Government Areas, on the need to restrain from activities of IPOB, and to bring back our brothers and sisters in some cities like Port Harcourt, Aba, Onitsha, etc, who are involved in IPOB activities for proper rehabilitation and empowerment.
“Finally, the clan, therefore, enjoins all her sons and daughters to shun all acts that can threaten the peace of the State, by not only supporting the Government of Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi, but also join hands in promoting unity, peace, and good governance in the State.”
