The National Youth Wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has lauded Governor David Umahi for inaugurating Ebonyi State Command of Ebube-Agu South-East Security Network.
Umahi inaugurated the outfit on Wednesday at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki.
Engr Damian Okafor, the national youth leader of Ohanaeze, who stated this in a statement issued to Journalists in Abakaliki, called on other South-East Governors to hasten the inauguration of the outfit in their respective states.
Okafor said the Ebonyi State Command of the Ebube-Agu outfit had done extremely well in curbing crimes and criminalities in the State and commended Governor Umahi for the bold steps his administration had taken so far in ensuring that the security outfit received necessary support and encouragement for optimal operation in the State.
The Igbo youth group, expressed confidence that when Ebube-Agu security outfit is inaugurated and fully operational in all the South-East states, the security challenge facing the region would be a thing of the past.
“We are deeply glad that the Chairman of South-East Governors forum, and Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr David Umahi, today, December 22, 2021, took the lead in the inauguration of the Ebube-Agu South-East Security outfit. This is a pure demonstration of leadership and we commend him very highly.
“We therefore, encourage other Governors of the region to hasten the plans for the inauguration of the security outfit in their respective States before the end of the year.
“We believe strongly that if Ebube-Agu security outfit becomes fully operational in all the South-East States, the current security challenge facing the region would be a thing of the past, ” Okafor said.
The National youth leader further disclosed that Ohanaeze had inaugurated a taskforce to checkmate the sell and consumption of hard drugs in the region, adding that they were working with the Nigeria drug law agency to arrest the manufacturers and dealers of hard drugs in the region.
“The case of excessive intake of hard drugs, we have carried out a lot of sensitization, inaugurated task force committee to that effect and done a lot of publications to curb the ugly trend.
“We are working with the NDLEA bosses in all the states of Alaigbo and we have made significant progress in arresting the manufacturers and dealers of those hard drugs. A lot of them are cooling off at the detention facilities awaiting the full arm of the law while so many of them have been chased out of Igbo Land with their properties confiscated by the law”, he added.
